The Department of Public Health has implemented the Get Real About Tobacco (GRAT) curriculum to youth in Kindergarten through 12th grade throughout El Paso County.  Get Real About Tobacco is a research-based, multimedia tobacco prevention program that meets the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for addressing the subject of tobacco and its uses and abuses.  It's a multiple lesson curriculum that  aims to educate students on the harmful effects of tobacco, help them spread the message to others, and encourages current users to quit. Along with the GRAT curriculum, the Department of Public Health has initiated the use of the Tobacco Exposed curriculum.  This is a single use lesson that has been adapted to various grade levels (Kindergarten through 2nd grade, 3rd grade through 5th grade, Middle school and High school).
